Art at the Top of the PIXEL

October 18, 2024 | Chambéry | 73 | LE PIXEL

As a signatory to the “1 Building, 1 Work of Art” charter, Villes et Villages is presenting an original work of art installed on the rooftop terrace of the LE PIXEL residence.

Who would have thought that the top of the PIXEL building in Chambéry would be home to a work of art? And yet, that is exactly the case. Recently, residents have been enjoying a permanent, open-air exhibition. Comfortably seated on the building’s rooftop terrace, they have plenty of time to admire a mural titled “Notre conjugaison,” created by Bordeaux-based artist Arnaud PUIG. A commission by Villes et Villages, in collaboration with Clara Copin of Studio Art in Situ.

Art and Architecture

The “1 Building, 1 Work of Art” initiative was launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Federation of French Real Estate Developers. The goal is to make art accessible to everyone in unexpected places. The design and originality of an urban development like PIXEL were perfectly suited to this initiative. Something was needed that was both original and discreet, integrated into the building. Villes et Villages selected Arnaud PUIG’s proposal, which envisioned a way to create a connection between residents, the building’s architecture, and the surrounding landscape. Art thus becomes part of the scenery.

The work "Our Conjugation"

The mural is an interweaving of letters and words. The calligraphy used encourages visitors to take the time to read and look beyond the surface of the words. Through his work, the artist seeks to create contrasts that stimulate the imagination of young and old alike and foster dialogue. This piece adds an extra touch of originality to a program that was already brimming with it. Residents are enchanted.

LE PIXEL stands out for its contemporary architecture and shared spaces in an innovative and sustainable neighborhood. A few three-bedroom apartments are still available, each with a balcony or terrace.
